Planning to go to the Frankie Kennedy Winter School this year... Things to consider/bring/etc/blah...

Hello all,

Like I said, I'm planning to head over to Donegal in December and was curious as to what past goers did/bring with them/where they stayed/etc.

Better to start asking now then a month before! Thanks in advance!

Cheers,
Armand

Transport, warm clothes, preferably waterproof, a musical instrument, and money for drink :-)

Do you know what the dates are? I've been on the website and can't find information about this year's school.

There's plenty of accomodation around, of course it's best to start looking around early. I always stayed in Screag an Iolair, which is a cosy place with a great atmosphere and extremely friendly owner, but very desolate, and if you don't have a car with a stout chassis and a teetotaller to drive it, better try some B&Bs in Bunbeg or Gweedore.

Having a car can be a plus altogether, as the events and sessions can be spread apart by a good few miles and you will be the one begged, not begging for a lift every time you want to change venues. However, during the day most folks float in the same directions, so if you're quick enough, you won't find yourself admiring long Donegal hardshoulders.

Bring with you some warm clothing. And enjoy yourself - I loved the atmosphere there!

Plenty of B&Bs in Gweedore. Bring plenty of money. They charge into everything now. God be with the days when most of the afternoon gigs were free.
