Re: Chieftains Guinness Advert

What about the one the Irish Rovers
sang in th 1960's for an oil company
"Bringin Home the Oil Me Boys Bringin
Home the Oil."

A hornpipe of some sort.

In the book

The Chieftains: The Authorized Biography

it says the tune was written especially for the Guiness ad.

if you google "Chieftains Guinness ad music" it will take you to the page. I tried to paste it here but it didn't work.

Re: Chieftains Guinness Advert

Maloney is not so slow - writing the tunes means he gets the royalties for every time its played as well as composer fee. Cute who'er but then again he 'owns' the Salamanca Reel and a couple of O'Carolan tunes somehow - don't ask me how but he does!!!!

Re: Chieftains Guinness Advert

1) Sorry, Mary, but your Google search brings up many options, but, unless I missed it, not the Chieftains' Guinness ad. The topmost Youtube link is to an extract from the DVD of the band's 'Water from the Well' sessions.

2) Michael Jackson surrendered control to Sony of the Beatles songs he 'owned' as part of a deal to avoid bankruptcy in 2006.

3) Paddy Moloney is his name, not 'Maloney'. What's your evidence that he 'owns' the tunes you've referenced, iwerzon? All he could possibly claim is a 'trad. arr' credit.
