Hi all. Our bunch of friends fond of ITM , which we try to play at our best, has decided to have a 5 days trip from Italy to Quin co. Clare, and to enter to the sessions contest held there every year.......
Bought flight ticket ( for us and for instruments), booked Hotel in Ennis..... then, in spite of the internet site of the event still confirming it, the owner of one of the Quin pubs told us that "for internal political causes" (!!!!) this year the session contest has been cancelled without notice.
No way to refound the tickets, so we've decided to go anyway.
there is a lot to be seen there, so we are going to enjoy the trip , but would be nice if somebody gave us suggestions about sessions in that period (between 24th and 29th of September) in that area, where we could join or simply listen and learn. In that case our instruments fares would not be completely wasted !!!! thanks
Massimo
Aw what a pain. Sorry to hear about that. I dont know of anything but I'll be meeting a guy from that area this weekend and i'll ask him. I'll email you if I hear anything.
It was cancelled last year as well wasn't It? Nothing lost there, pubowners and other businesses filling their pocket on the back of grants for the arts.
sorry all. i've been away over the week end and i can read your replies only now. thanks for the advice. surely we will stay a few days in Ennis , so, some days before the trip i will check the sessions organized there. Silvio, we double checked asking to other pubs. unfortunately they confirmed the cancellation. it looks like the 4 pubs owners had some arguments over the money. same old story. thanks again
