Can Anyone Tell Me the Name of this Tune?

Can Anyone Tell Me the Name of this Tune?

Can anyone tell me the name of this tune? I believe it to be a Kerry polka. Here is the abc:

X: 1
T: Kerry Polka? - Name Needed!
M: 2/4
L: 1/8
K:G
|:BB AG|EG DG|BA1/2B1/2 AG|Bd e2|
dB AG|EG DG|BA1/2B1/2 dB|AG G2:|
|:g3/2f1/2 ed|Bd AG|g3/2f1/2 ed|Bd A2|
g3/2f1/2 ed|Bd AG|BA1/2B1/2 dB|AG G2:|

I only transcribed it from memory, so the abc may contain a couple of errors. The above should be good enough to recognise it, though.

Thanks, mcg, but I've already tried folktunefinder and other similar tune-finding websites - with no luck so far!

Re: Can Anyone Tell Me the Name of this Tune?

It is more often played and known in the key of A... It goes by a couple of names, and versions ~

"The Ballyhoura Mountains"
Key signature: A Major

Thanks ceolachan -that's the one! I'll be able to sleep at nights, now!

Thanks for the tip on the correct key too - (A is one of my preferred keys).

Re: Can Anyone Tell Me the Name of this Tune?

I have the same problem with sleep when a problem arises... Glad to have given you rest on this, and thanks for the email. Now you can have fun with the various possibilities in this lovely old polka, and nothing wrong with taking it in G, or even, dare I say ~ depending on your instrument ~ dropping down to D... ;-)
