Band-In-A-Box

Band-In-A-Box

Just got a copy of Band-In-A-Box and I am feeling my way around it. I have discovered that it uses templates (styles) and the program includes many templates for the likes of Country music, Gospel, Pop, etc., but no Irish. Does anyone know where I can get B-I-A-B reel, jig, etc., templates or how can I make my own.

Re: Band-In-A-Box

I hope you get lots of response in this thread! I'm a complete computer duffer and I have BIAB and haven't a clue as to how to use it. I was hoping to make some half-decent backing tracks for practice/busking. Turn way now, purists!

Try checking here for user styles that could be useful for trad practice:

Re: Band-In-A-Box

I've gotta thank you for mentioning this software. I LOVE IT!
I just installed it on my Mac (my PC died) and it's a huge help. Just what I've been looking for. In less than an hour I've managed to learn "Follow me up to Carlow" and a nicer version of "Old Hag..." than I've been playing, on my mandolin. AND it's got guitar chords as well as the melodies for all the tunes. Just awesome!
Lot's of old time tunes in there too. My fiddle playing friend will be stoked when I've learned a lot of stuff she plays that's included in the software.

Re: Band-In-A-Box

Thanks Michael.

Went to Alf Warlock's site. Wow! There’s enough there to keep me going for a lifetime. I think the style templates will be very useful as background for any tune that I wish to learn.

Be good.
