Anybody know of any Mick O'conor links/vids/cds (banjo)?
Anybody know of any Mick O'conor links/vids/cds (banjo)?
When I started learning banjo, Mick o'connor videos were an inspiration, and helped me to make some real progress. They've all been removed from youtube, as far as I cn tell. Does anybody know of any links/videos where he's playing. I can't seem to find a thing.... As far as I know, there are no recordings of him on CD either. Replies appreciated.
Gilezzznik.

I have three of the videos that were removed from youtube... I could email them to you?
I believe what happened is the person who was uploading them (Vidlad) got banned from youtube for some copyright issue. The account had over 400 videos so I doubt if the Mick O'Connor ones were the issue.

Whangee,
That'd be great, I'd appreciate that. How do I get my email address to you. Do I post it on here?
Grego,
I noticed the paragons.. I play one myself, and don't come across them too often. The vega tubaphone' s redundant now I've got a paragon.. can't play it like Mick though!
Re: Anybody know of any Mick O'conor links/vids/cds (banjo)?
Mick appears on "Mick Mulcahy agus cairde", a Gael Linn recording .(from the early 90s?)
I interviewed him for the radio last year at the Fleadh Cheoil and it went something like this:
Tony:"And so Mick are you going to do a solo CD?"
Mick: "Oh yes, so low you can't hear it."
Re: Anybody know of any Mick O'conor links/vids/cds (banjo)?
He plays accompaniment on a Paddy Carty album [with a duet and solo thrown in] and is on two albums by a band called Free McGuinness which are on CD baby. He appears on a few other things which don't pop into mind. He is in my top 3 favourite players along with Brian Fitzgerald and Paraic MacDonnchadha.
Re: Anybody know of any Mick O'conor links/vids/cds (banjo)?
Thanks Whangee, for posting them. I'll copy them and download 'em. if you come across any more, can you do the same again? Cheers N
Paddy... remember Clifton last year, I recognised you playing in the pub from youtube vids, and emailed you at a later date?
Mick seems to have a relaxed, loose style, without too much ornamentation, where the banjo is almost secondary to the music. Great to play along to. I will listen out for the other two you mention. I'll also try to get hold of the Free Guiness, - CD baby. Thanks for the info......... N

Note two Paragons side-by side: must have been a rare event, indeed!

Dripping with envy...

Though I picked up what is close to my dream banjo recently - a Paramount model A in pristine condition. So the envy thing is a bit overdone.

The files were too big to email so I uploaded them here:

If I find more I'll upload them... I know I'm missing two of them.
Grego, I have a Model A too, I love it!
Cheers!
