Could anyone out there estimate the value of a beautiful bouzouki, made in 1985 by Joe Foley of Dublin, in nearly brand new condition. Perfectly flat fingerboard, great looking wood, plays very well. Fingerboard inlays are ivory, probably made from old piano keys. Thanks.
Some peolpe like Joes earlier bouzoukis...and some would rather the one he made in the 90s onwards....I would guess it does not have a trust rod in it.? -(A steel rod that runs through the neck)..most of his 80s bouzoukis didnt have them...which, in some cases can be bad news for the neck and action.
Even if the bouzouki wasnt really played much the neck can still go with time and age. But Joes instruments are very well made, and very strong, so it might just be alright.
Are you selling or buying it?
He does have a waiting list a the moment, so if you are selling it places like ebay are a fast way to get a top price for it. But make sure to put a price reserve on it!
Thanks to all those who replied. I am planning to sell this bouzouki. It is in absolutely perfect condition. The neck is totally straight. Problem is I am here in Connecticut, USA.
I may put in on Ebay....but I have no idea how to ship it safely to Europe...

Re: Joe Foley Bouzouki value
I think his base price for a new one is somewhere around 2 or 3000 euro so a used one with no wait would rake in a good bit of cash for sure.
