I downloaded abcmus and paid the registration fee just over three weeks ago and I still haven’t received a registration code for the software. Does anyone know if Henrik Norbeck is still actively involved with this software or is the website just a relic that is still hanging around? I have emailed him but he’s not responding.
Who knows. His band hasn't been active for very long and the web site doesn't seem to have been updated for many years. The last active email address I have is henrik@norbeck.nu .
The website was last updated 31 May 2005, which, in July 2008, is a cause for concern. For instance, there is no update of the current version 2 for Windows Vista (which is now MS's official OS, following the recent withdrawal of XP from almost all outlets). It may of course run perfectly well on Vista - but does anyone know? And as for the Mac and Linux OSs ...?
However, the good news is that, although version 2 won't run on Windows 3.1, version 1.1 will, and is apparently still available for download
Having delivered the above gripes, I must say I'm happy with AbcMus2.0 and the application does do everything I require of it.
I downloaded AbcMus several months ago and had the same experience. The password did arrive after several weeks. Perhaps he doesn't check his email regularly.

I run abcmus, a registered copy of the last available version (2.0), and it works just fine in Vista (with SP1).
It's still the best piece of software I've ever found to actually *play* abc and make them sound pretty close to correct (with ornaments and accents and even chords that all sound "right")....
Thanks everyone. I run vista and abcmus seems to run just fine. The reason I've paid for a registration code (which I don't have) is to get the chords working. I agree with KeepFiddlin that the playback sounds right, and I was hoping the same would be true for the chords which has been verified by KeepFiddlin.
Other than the playback of abcmus, I would recomend abcExplorer. This is about the best abc software I have come across IMO. It also does chords but they sound a bit off to me. But that may just be me.

Re: Abcmus
I copied & posted your message on the abcusers Yahoo Group.
The last comment (by hnorbeck) on TheSession appears to be almost 1 year old;
Composed by John Sheehan, I believe
As far as I know, John Sheehan composed the jig bit that is transcribed here, but I might be wrong.

ABC Navigator
Recommended - and it's free

Re: Abcmus
ABC Navigator looks great! Is there a "find in files" function? The search function seems to just search the currently open file.
