I am a new member with a big but most likely stupid question...
I recently borrowed my fathers banjo that he received form his grandfather, to add some color to a song I was recording, and realized that the instrument had no marking on it. I decided I should try to find out something about it and was wondering if anyone can help or suggest resources to help find out where it came from and who made it…
Pictures would be very helpful for sure! Even if there aren't any markings inside, you can sometimes tell from the shape of the head stock, what kind of flange (if any), and what kind of hardware, etc.
Unmarked Tenor Banjo from early 1900?
Unmarked Tenor Banjo from early 1900?
Hey all,

Thanks a bunch!

Re: Unmarked Tenor Banjo from early 1900?
can we get a bit more info - some pictures maybe. Is it a tenor, plectrum or 5 string? are there any marking in the back?

Re: Unmarked Tenor Banjo from early 1900?
where have you looked for names on it?
just a head?
is there a resonator on it?
very often names and models of a banjos are inside the pot.
