Is the Indianapolis Irish Fest any good? I've never been, but am going there this year. I know there was a post about this fest before like 4 years ago and people were saying there wasn't that much trad there, does anyone know if this is still the case? Also, did anyone attend the Irish Fest at the Irish American Heritage Center in Chicago this past weekend. If so, what did you guys think?
i went to indy last year. it was a lot of fun. i had a lot of fun playing at the session that was in the hotel where everyone stays. most of the people in it were in the bands that played the fest, which was unique.
it's not as big a fest as milwaukee, but then again, what is?
I don't know about now, but there sure wasn't much trad in the past. . .One year Danu was there, but they weren't even given big billing. I learned it after the fact. They were listed in small print under the big print bands of bagpipe rock or danny-boy type bands. This was when it was a very young festival. I remember they were using a session to promote it and thought, "WTF? There's none of this type of music there!"
Things might well have changed since then, but even though its close by my house, I've generally ignored it since then, perhaps to my detriment.
Indianapolis Irish Fest?
