.....an incident that is normally only recorded in still photographs, but unfortunately the lady of the prime mover in the case has discovered how to make videos on her blasted digital camera, and has put the worst instance of our playing and singing on the net before asking my opinion.

So far as I can tell, I am not on YouTube yet but there are some pictures of myself playing both piano and bass on the web site of the Arkansas Celtic Music Society.

Well, I was caught unawares at our school talent show this past May. I'm a complete beginner on these things, as you will surely see...but my lessons have begun. I had them perfectly tuned that night, then put them down for 30 minutes, only to discover that you can never do that with the pipes.
So, in the collegial and supportive spirit so often found on the Yellow Board, I humbly submit this...
There's a few videos of Caride na Gael on YouTube, all posted by that rapscallion from Arkansas, b0dhran. Any time I see them I wonder why he couldn't catch me doing something cool. Anyway, he's a friend and a good guy and probably lurks on this board under an assumed name.

Several years back, herself and I participated in a protest rally on the steps of the Georgia capitol. A few months later, the sponsoring organization circulated a recruiting pamphlet all around the state, with a cover photo from the rally. There, smack in the middle, was my own dopey mug. At least I wasn’t engaged in an act of nasal hygiene.
A freind of mine came back from the states once with a hefty tome bublished by the Smithsonian Foundation, something to do with world folk musics or something. Anyway, on page 214 there's a lovely portrait of your's truly playing the fiddle with the caption: Traditional Scottish Music in Edinburgh. (I'd say the probability that I was actually playing anything anywhere near approaching music orriginating in Scotland would be as close to zero as you can get.)
A couple of weeks ago my mate who now lives in Ho Chi Minh was trying to explain to his wife what diddley music is and that he has a mate that does it. Then, raise your hats to the the strange phenomenon, on I come on the telly in a travel programme about Europe, diddling away in Edinburgh.
I must be a voyeur, because I enjoy seeing glimpses of other people's gigs and sessions around the world. And I guess I'm an exhibitionist, too. It seems only fair, if I'm going to spy on other people. What the heck, it's free, and I'm too old to be embarrassed.

I have never appeared on "Crime Watch". However, a few years ago, another musician jokingly told me that my picture had been posted on the "Wanted" bulletin board at the local post office. I supposedly was charged with Impersonating A Musician.
BB, found the photos....bet that would've made for a good little youtube vid...Fauxcelt....when your substantially less than visually appealing just put only half of your instrument in the shot;)

Whenever I look at pictures of myself, I wonder how can people stand to sit there and look at me.
My wife is so deluded that she actually thinks I am handsome and I am not going to try to change her mind even if I could. Before I met this woman whom I married, there were a few women in my life who actually thought I was handsome (much to my surprise).

We were captured playing at the Saratoga Springs, NY Dance Flurry this past February. Not one of our better sets, either, since we're playing for totally beginning contradancers. Wish they'd gotten something a little more upbeat instead.

Once I was at a house party and I had just played it and it so happened that there was a "sean nos" singer present, who proceeded to sing the REAL Spailpin a Ruin.
Incredibly lovely, so much better than the way I play it.
I wish I had a recording of his singing it, so I could re-learn the tune.
Dark Raven, I enjoyed watching and listening to the band which you play music with. I was tapping my foot while I watched the video.
However, I must draw the line at being "tied up" because I don't like wearing a tie unless I absolutely have to (my wife will vouch for this).
There is something "fishy" about that idea, Dark Raven.
Because I play a bass fiddle as well as piano, I get teased a lot about playing a "fishy" instrument or that there is something "fishy" about me. So I jokingly named my bass fiddle "Fishy" in self-defense.
