The Old Bay Ceili Band
LAURA BYRNE EGAN (Flute)
Laura has performed at countless festivals and venues in Ireland and across the United States. In 2001, Laura was a featured performer in the Emmy nominated Christmas with Choral Arts concert, which aired on WMAR-TV ABC2 and WBJC-FM. She recorded on a compilation remix album of the late Eva Cassidy and her own solo recording Tune for the Road receives great reviews and radio play in the U.S. and Ireland. She teaches Irish flute at the Catskills Irish Arts Week and at Goucher College.

SEAN McCOMISKEY (Button Accordion)
As the son of the great Button Accordion player, Billy McComiskey, Sean has been surrounded by the sounds of Irish music, especially Irish accordion music, his entire life. Sean has performed at a variety of concerts and festivals - the Washington Irish Festival, the Kennedy Center Millennium stage, the White House St. Patrick's Day Celebration and the Governor's St. Patrick's Day Celebration. He is regular at J. Patrick's Pub, in Locust Point.

BRENDAN BELL (Flute)
Brendan is known for his flowing style of playing, which is deeply rooted in A former Scottish highland bagpiper, Brendan finally made the smart choice to play an indoor instrument. Brendan has performed at the Temple Bar Trad Festival in Dublin, the Kennedy Center, and many other festivals and venues across the United States.

JIM EAGAN (Fiddle)
"…. his fingers dance across the neck while his right hand gently holds the bow, allowing it to go where it needs, always creating the right effects. The maturity in his playing belies his age…. just enjoy it." ~ Jamie O'Brien, The Irish Edition, January 2004

KATIE LINNANE (Fiddle)
Katie was encouraged to play the fiddle by her mother, Kathy Linnane, who also plays the fiddle and accordion. With inspiration from players such as Patrick Ourceau, Willie Kelly and Kathy Linnane, it was hard for her not to fall in love with the tradition of Irish Music. Katie can be found playing small clubs and festivals around the NY and Connecticut area with players such as Damien Connolly, Joe Gerhard, John Whelan, Joanie Madden, and John Redmond.

MATT MULQUEEN ( Piano)
Matt was born in Baltimore, Maryland to a musical family. Having brothers who played button accordion and fiddle and a sister who was a step-dancer instilled in Matt an irresistible desire to be a musician. At age nine, Matt asked his parents for piano. He soon progressed to private lessons with Donna Long, who has been the greatest influence on Matt's playing. Listening to the host of traditional musicians who haunt Baltimore's Irish pubs and to innumerable recordings has allowed Matt to forge his own style of accompanying Irish music.

PETER BRICE (Button Accordion)
Peter sings narrative songs from England, Ireland, and the United States and plays Irish Traditional music on the button accordion. His unique, unaccompanied style of interpreting traditional songs is informed by his attention to the singing of late masters like Jeannie Robertson, Harry Cox, and Thomas Moran, and by his interest in the past. In 2007, he returned from a five year sojourn in Newcastle upon Tyne and Limerick during which he "sat at the feet" of contemporary masters Dónal Maguire, Louis Killen, and Eilís Ní Shúilleabhain.

JOSH DUKES (Drums)
Josh is a highly sought after accompanist in the D.C./Baltimore traditional Irish music scene. He is an extremely versatile multi-instrumentalist whose talents embrace the guitar, bouzouki, bodhran, flute and tin whistle. His musical sensitivity and melodic knowledge of dance tunes help Josh enhance the melody with dynamic chords and rhythm patterns. His influences include Paddy League, John Doyle, Arty McGlynn and Rob Greenway. Josh can be heard playing bodhran accompanying Doc Botzer on his CD release "The House" one of the most beautifully original recordings of traditional Irish piano music.

DANNY NOVECK (Banjo)
Banjo, fiddle, guitar, composer - this man & his faithful blue heeler, Dingo, can be spotted til the wee hours of every hot session up & down the East Coast.

Good luck with your fund raising. The Band has a mighty impressive CV and we look forward to hearing "The Old Bay" in Tullamore.

How did the benefit concert go? Were there a lot of people there to listen? Did they raise lots of money?

Re: Old Bay Ceili Band -- off to the fleadh!

Yes! Plus, thanks to the genius of Zina, soon there will be a paypal site & (hopefully) t-shirts... though most everyone will be at the Catskills this week so maybe will be up in a few weeks when everyone's slept off their hangovers ;)

I hope the lucky people who get to go to Catskills Irish Arts Week have fun because we can't afford to go.
