then a jaunty priest turns up and reads him his last rights bringing him back to life and the guy gets up and starts dancing!

so many levels to this music!

Can i ask if anyone else has ever viewed McKenna's timing as suspect?

I sometimes get the impression that Barney is a little behind in the music? and i got it in this recording.

Please can i avoid a deluge of Barney-philes attacking me because i accept and value his contibution to one of the best ballad groups of all-time and to reinvigorating a much loved instrument in ITM.

he does look a wee bit hungover here.
:)
McKenna's timing is what stands out in this clip for me.
that and his tone.

i prefer his banjo style to the "locked in" sound with 4 triplets in every bar.
i like hearing a bit of "wiggle room"

this vid is an exert from the green linnet where barney and tony travelled through europe barney will always start plying chords when part way through a tune thats his style good on ya barney.
