Makes a simple system (6 hole key of D) three piece flute with tuning slide, keyless or 5-key block mounted. Eugene recommends a silver plated head and barrel assembly for export to the US and other dry-climate countries.
NOTE ~ this after a history of several of his wood heads, personal knowledge, taking the great divide, splitting... The greater problem was really between the brass slide and the wood, the later requiring a longer period of seasoning when it's to be used in close proximity to a material, like metal, that moves differently in response to temperature changes... Nice flutes!!! Great character!!!
I'm going to have to start looking out for them. You've got my curiosity bubbling... I have seen 'past' models, including other systems, and early Boehm, but didn't know there were folks making them that way again...
The above about "assembly for export to the US and other dry-climate countries." ~ was a lifted quote, unchanged... It didn't surprise me, as said, I have known of problems with some of his earlier flutes in transit, and even after a shor time in another geographic realm despite all care being taken... However, it isn't just his flutes that have suffered a similar fate ~ the heads checking, splitting, dividing... Some woods are more or less prone to this, but it is more common in wood heads, metal slide models...
Actually, if memory serves me right, the Boosey lot were making them that way up into the 20th Century... It was an available option, a standard silver head and a wood body. And I remember there was at least one other, in North America? ~ but these were modern Boehm system keyed flutes...

Re: wanted Eugene Lambe flute / half silver half wood.
Did you email everyone on the board with bunch of question marks, or was that just me?

Re: wanted Eugene Lambe flute / half silver half wood.
I received no question marks. However, if you have extras be sure to pass them along.

??? ~ more question marks ~ exactly what are you saying? I've seen a number of Eugene's flutes, but never one that was half silver...

His export model. Wood body + silver plated brass headjoint, I think with a German style reform lip plate?

I don't think that model was specifically for export. Anyhow Breandan McMahon seems to have been making those reform heads as well.
