Nòs Ùr ~ Please Vote this Saturday ~ 21st June

There are some really beautiful songs in this contest & in light of the now total farce of the Eurovision ...... feckin' out of tune Irish Puppets, etc etc, I think this new competition shows real promise & deserves our support.

N.B. You can actually listen to all the entries on the competition's MySpace, so why not check it out.

My own personal favourite is:

Fiona Mackenzie: Scots Gaelic Song: Guthan air a' ghaoith (Voices on the wind)

Although, to be honest, I'm torn between Fiona's song & this one:

Gillebride MacMillan: Scots Gaelic Song: Dìleab (Legacy)

What's yours?

"The first Celtic and Scots Minority Languages Song Competition will be held in Inverness on 21 June 2008 as part of four regional finals held across Europe .

The event is called Nòs Ùr which means ‘New Style' in Scottish Gaelic, and languages expected to be entered into the competition are Scottish Gaelic, Scots, Ulster Scots, Irish, Manx, Welsh, Cornish and Breton.

The winner of the West European competition will be entered into the final of the pan-European ‘Liet Lavlut' competition which will take place in Lulea Sweden next October. Judges will be invited from each of the minority languages expected to enter the event; Scots, Scottish Gaelic, Ulster Scots, Irish, Manx, Welsh, Cornish, Breton."
