41 (and counting) slip jigs widely played at Irish sessions

41 (and counting) slip jigs widely played at Irish sessions

Yet another in the series of tune lists. I love slip jigs, the form, the dance, the tunes themselves.

Mind you, these are just the ones that are most widely played--there are many other great slip jigs that deserve more air time. But these will get you started to joining in at sessions far and wide.

Please add any I may have missed--these lists work best when people contribute the tunes that are common in their neck of the woods.

Ah, Jim, I listed in there as "Coleman's." Yes, it's also known widely as Promenade.

Re: 41 (and counting) slip jigs widely played at Irish sessions

LOL, Donough, I pondered that great divide as I assembled the list. I decided to punt....
;-)
So yes, there are probably some hop jigs included here, as there may be some slides (horrors) included in the list of jigs. I leave it up to you to decide how you want to play (interpret) the tunes.

"The Peacock Follows The Hen"

A local harper insists that The Butterfly is always followed by
The Kid On The Mountain Bike.

As is the case with a lot of dancers, many kids I played for where only happy doing a slip jig to 'The Dusty Miller'
Pléaraca an Fuisce is also an excellent slip jig

Deirdre's Fancy
