Hi, I've been playing piano accordion for a few years now and play a variety of styles of music. I would like to be able to play Irish music better.
I've read through some old threads on piano accordions and there seems to be a lot of negativity surrounding the instrument.
I would like some advice on how to approach the music more sensitively and basically, how do you get that traditional feel? I think I play pretty well but it just doesn't sound like the great PA players and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.
The power of christ compells you!! Sorry couldn't resist.....listen to Karen Tweed and Jimmy Keane. There is also a tutorial by mad for trad on the PA.That should help.Good luck!!
Karen Tweed is a very good interpreter of Irish music on the piano box, uspecially in her sparing and tasteful use of the bass buttons. If you haven't heard her, you should do.

There are many great PA players out there. Listen and emulate if possible.
Try this one for starters.
