being new to computers, i started looking up youtube videos recently, and im enjoying what im seeing on it. i don't have a broadband connection yet. so i was wondering, youtube videos that ive downloaded, don't come back on again, ie. i have to download it again if i want to watch it. surely i don't have to do this, is there some setting that enables me to watch the videos ive downloaded after i have closed my internet connection. thanks
Youtube videos are only stored in the cache of your browser whilst you look at the page - they are not actually stored to your computer. You need to either install a piece of software on your computer that downloads youtube videos, or use one of the websites that does this for you. Google "download youtube" and you'll find a range of options.
I use Videobox (for mac) which cost a tenner but works well. Perhaps PC users can suggest the best equivalent.
I use kootoob for that purpose It's free just google for it. You'll also need an flv player to play it afterwards FLVplayer is a free player again google for it.
You can download the "realplayer" for example here: http://www.download.com/RealPlayer/3000-2646_4-10073040.html
The realplayer ads a button to the videos that lets you download the video and is free. That's what I use, don't know of better options out there.
for mozilla you can download
add
download helper https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3006
with that you can download films from youtube
as well as mp3 files from myspaces on which artist allows to download those.
If you read the RealPlayer info about their youtube plug-in downloader, they say:
Does playing downloaded content locally eliminate buffering that sometimes happens with streaming videos?
Yes, one of the key advantages of downloading a video first and then playing it back in RealPlayer is that the buffering and stuttering that sometimes occurs is eliminated.
