Cork - local advice sessions and music (instrument) shops
Cork - local advice sessions and music (instrument) shops
Hi,
9 musicians from Scotland are heading to Cork on Thu & Fri. The mustard pages list sessions in the Pier Head on Thu, The Sin E, Smarts Bar and 'various venues on the Fri. Anyone local want to pitch in on where we might be welcome or where we could start our own session?
Also are there any instrument shps in Cork that have a good second hand selection?? I am in the market for a short scale tenor banjo...
Re: Cork - local advice sessions and music (instrument) shops
Hi there, I was lucky enough to be a week in Cork in May, and there were some great sessions going on nearly every night. I have sent you a mail, if you send me your email address I can attach details of pretty much all of the sessions and venues.

Crowley's music shop is on Mac Curtain Street. There's also Pro Musica on Oliver Plunkett Street, but I don't know if they have second hand instruments.
There are lots of sessions in Cork, some of them are listed in a free publication called Whazon, which can be found in some bars and shops.

Thanks all for the advice. The crickets have receded a bit now.
We made our own session last night which was a lot of fun and we are thinking of going along to the Sin E tonight.
More critically I found a lovely modern DIY tenor in Crowley's. They are asking €1495 for it. Gulp...
