track of box playing heard on clarefm

track of box playing heard on clarefm

I heard this stunning track of box playing on clarefm, and barely caught who it was, I think they said PJ Connolly? From Connemara anyway. I've searched and, can't find any reference online, or find it online at Custys or anywhere else I can think to look. Anyone have any information on this musician and where I can find this cd? Thanks!

Could it have been Johnny Connolly? I was bored and tried a search and came up with this:
http://www.folkmusic.net/htmfiles/inart420.htm

I haven't heard it myself though.

Re: track of box playing heard on clarefm

I think the man you are looking for is PJ O Conghaile or PJ Connolly in english. He is the son of the great sean-nos dancer and box player Sonny Colm Larry Ó Conghaile. With regard to the cd if your in ireland id say Custys in ennis, mulligans in galway, etc will have it. May i complent you on your task, a real gem this recording, Unlike most productions, no protool. Its pure natural music played like it should be. Good luck in getting it.

Re: track of box playing heard on clarefm

Thanks everyone for the help. Balledfan, PJ O Conghaile is definitely the box player. They called him PJ Sonny on the program as well. I recorded the track from clarefm, and now will hunt down the cd entire. Thanks again, it's beautiful stuff!
