We're trying to track down a Walters accordion for my father. He used to play one way back in his day that he bought in New York. From what I've gathered so far, these aren't found often. Can anybody shine some light on this for us?
Would your father happen to be Terry "Cuz" Teahan? I just saw pictures of an old accordion with that name to it. T Teahan written in large letters across the front - though that was a Baldoni-Bartoli.
Walters accordions and Baldoni-Bartoli were the makes most often played by the irish-americans during the 40's throughout the 60's in the New York and Boston areas. They are famous for their enormously large and loud sound (they sound great!) and their large buttons.
Nowadays you'll be very very VERY lucky to come across one. The ones I've seen for sale lately have only been Baldoni-Bartolis, and were priced at about 1000-3000 dollars in UNrestored condition. Walters' would be priced higher than that, as they appear to be more sought after by collectors and enthusiasts. Especially if you're lucky enough to find one in good playing condition.
Depending on your fathers' budget, it should be possible to find one if he's ready to pay the price if he wants a Walters. From time to time a Baldoni-Bartoli will occur on eBay, but often the price will reflect the other bidders urge to own one of them.
Like I said - it's not impossible to find one But you REALLY have to be either lucky, or get in touch with the right people.

If it's a PA then possibly a Walther? There's one at http://ymak.de/shop/product_info.php?products_id=6126&language=en although I'm not recommending the site necessarilly. I don't know where they're made.
