- does anyone know what this is????? I don't think it's a tenor, it's construction is obscure, and form the picture it looks like it's only got about 10 frets?
Re: Can anyone identify this weird little instrument?
It's a tribal god of the Kwok.
It has three feet. Well, two of them might be feet, the other one might be its means of reproduction. It has a belly, arms, and as much of a face as anyone really needs. I wonder what it plays?
Re: Can anyone identify this weird little instrument?
Can't believe it would work, even as a ukelele banjo - even allowing for parallex I don't believe the fretting is accurate - there should be more frets on a neck that long.
Anyway, yes, banjolele or uke/banjo. Just think of George Formby, but not a George Formby model instrument.
Is that the Kwok tribe as in Bert Kwok, esteemed ethnic thespian?

de selby - I wouldn't know as I don't partake. I am probably more influenced by lead in the drinking water. However, there have indeed been a lot of drug farm busts round here; they were in houses bought by gangs some years back when a lot
were still going cheap. The houses, I mean.
This little fetish is called Nyaa, and was apparently created by the god Lunni when he had a drink taken. His area of responsibility covers piles, porcupine tails, scrofula, scorpions, dog bites, musicians and Queen Victoria. Usually, he plays with himself. When he plays with a string, it is a very bad omen.
Re: Can anyone identify this weird little instrument?
I have seen a banjo ukulele (or banjulele as I prefer to call it) and it is small, quite a bit smaller than my mandolin. Than that thing looks too large to be banjo uke, but I would need better pictures to say for certain, also the frets look really strange.

Re: Can anyone identify this weird little instrument?
My father actually owned and played one of these and we did actually try to use its strings to repair a tennis racquet.

Re: Can anyone identify this weird little instrument?
It looks to me like some luthier went for a banjolele, but tried for that loooong-neck banjo styling (vis. Makem/Seeger's axes).
It certainly makes my palms itch to try it. I wonder how it sounds.
Perhaps a child's teaching instrument, like a 1/2 or 3/4 fiddle?
