yes,Trevor- i remember being there on some school trip a very long time ago and the thing that still sticks in my mind was some flemish speaking parrot in a bar.
apparently it was swearing like a trooper.
I haven't seen the fillum yet but the arts reviewer here at the CBC started out her review of the film saying "Now, I'm not a prude but...". Apparently she was worried about the "bad language" or the amount of it. All I could think was "Yes you effing are". She knocked the film down for the language. Unbelievable.

Pity Brendan Gleeson didn't get to play the fiddle ...
Pity there was no Flemish being spoken in the background to give it that little more verisimilitude ...
But apart from those two minor gripes I too liked it a lot ... Tarentinoesque comes to mind

I saw it 2 weeks ago and it was fantastic!
Brilliant blend of humour and real drama.
Both Farrell and Gleeson were excellent as was Fiennes.
Absolutely recommend it!

A lot of the humour comes from the language, both verbal and written (see the film!) which is brilliantly handled.

Don't call it Bruges if you visit.The locals call it Brugge (bruguh).
It's a Flemish town.

well yes-i don't say Brunswick when i'm in Braunschweig or Vienna when i'm in Wien.
mind you,i would n't object to people referring to london as Londres so there we are.
the film is called 'In Bruges' and it's an english speaking production and i'm still laughing because i've just remembered the ketomene-taking dwarf.
but not to think of that as i might be tempted on to...
