The Riverdance suggestion sounds close, to go by the Net biography which says he played in a vaudeville troupe when he got to the USA.

Or maybe some unknown (to us) genius of Somali or Kurdish music who's immigrated into London, or for that matter some musician from Eastern Europe who's come over here to better his prospects and does gigs for compatriots.

Ah, a pointless thread, my favorite kind.
However, in order to proceed we need to know the context of the question. Has he just suddenly come alive (like a zombie), has he been alive the whole time and some how no one has noticed (the buried alive thing), or has he only been pretending to be dead this whole time (like Elvis).
