Re: piano accordion

Paulo soprani make 'em with just 8 bases too you know. 8 is more than enough for diddley music. They have buttons on the other side too and you get a different note when you squeeze or pull. Great for diddley music. Give it a whirl.

Re: piano accordion

Great list "llig", but how come only 1 name under the age of 50 ? Just curious. :)

Re: piano accordion

The musicians in the above list play traditional irish music,

That.s what this site is about. And long life to it.

Re: piano accordion

Yes, long life to it. It will outlive all of us, and some. And for that I'm truly glad.

(this site though is about diddley tunes. But traditional irish music includes the songs and slow airs aswell)

Re: piano accordion

Iv'e gone over to the dark side and been playing a Roland F2 with 72 basses - they are SOOO light!!!!

No internal speakers or batteries, and obviously no reeds, and you need an amp, but for £1200 you can't go wrong.
Soundwise, they are much more realistic than the full sized Rolands and the left-hand is really good (when you get orchestra noise on) - really good for dancing.

Took it to the sesh the other night - everyone was a bit unsure at first, but once they had heard it, they all wanted a go.

Re: piano accordion

geoff wright - i've had a go on one of those rolands - they're INSANE. It's like being possessed. You're carrying an accordion, but you can't feel it. You're hearing an accordion, but you don't have a hunch back. It's like one massive contradiction. It made me feel ill and I had to lie down.

Re: piano accordion

I also play Paolo Soprani PA they're brilliant for trad sessions. O'Neills of Gortin Co Tyrone is the place to go for a good price, I saved £200 on the cost of mine. Tel 02881648492
I have my son's 4 voice SEM 72 bass in white for sale, beautiful instrument £1200 - email me if interested.
