You come up with your own stupid name !
Personally, I was trying to come up with a new name for a rather unoriginally-named band I had just joined, and my SO was at the time very interested in American patchwork quilt patterns, many of which have intrigueing names. I wrote down six of the best, woke up in the morning, and said "T********t", which was a combination of two of these names. Guess what ? There's a Canadian band of the same name, though they don't play barn dances.
Try a brainstorming session with the rest of the band, don't forget to get in plenty of the local brew, or anything stronger, and write every idea down in the course of the evening. Some tune names are good, some are obvious. Don't call yourself Rattling Bog.......
I named a band we put together in the 90's The Jimi Hendrix Memorial Ceili Band. We got an eclectic mix coming to our gigs though. How about The Two Knocks Ceili Band.(as in Knock, Knock - de aydiddly aye...........................)
I agree with AlBrowne, make it easy to spell and pronounce. We learned the hard way that hardly anybody in Oklahoma knows how to spell or pronounce "Cairde na Gael".
A lot of bands have simply taken the name of tune and used it.
Locally we've got Banish Misfortune, Flowers of Edinburg and a few others I can't think of right now.
