fingerpicking 'zouks & OM's

fingerpicking 'zouks & OM's

Guess I never really thought of 'zouks and Octave Mandolins as instruments well suited to fingerpicking. I got one to flat pick tunes and strum backing. But this guy does a nice job and it sounds sweet.

Re: fingerpicking 'zouks & OM's

It takes a little bit of time getting used to picking both strings of one course at once (as opposed to picking only the string opposite the fingernail of the picking finger), but it does sound great when you get used to it. Especially in slow airs.

Re: fingerpicking 'zouks & OM's

I did it a little, back when I had a zouk playing friend who would let me play his instrument. It was fun, but rough on the nails. I'm very protective of my nails, much to the amusement of my smart alec son.

Check out Joseph Sobol's Citternalia album for some unbelievable fingerpicked zouk playing...
