This has probably already been discussed to death, but a couple of searchs of the discussions on this site didn't land anything so I figure I'd ask:
Any suggestions/preferences as to software to convert ABC to dots? Are there free software/downloads available? How do they compare to packages available for sale? Can/do they link to the computer's midi, so that you can play the ABC/dots to listen for any necessary corrections (kind of like the downloads available at this site)? I've found a couple online, but was hoping to gather some opinions before I jumped.
Click on Tune-O-Tron on the top menu bar, then click again on ABC Convert-A-Matic on the left menu bar.
Type in or cut and paste abcs into the box, click submit, and you get a gif of the dots, with links to play midi and create a nice pdf sheet of the dots (which you can save on your computer).
I'm a bit of a bore about this, but I always recommend TableEdit. It's shareware, but if you like it, then it's not overly expensive. Also, t imports midis perfectly well and doesn't appear to have any glitches.
I have tried getting ABC into sheet music using concertina.net several times, but I always get this error message after I hit submit:
"No image available -- there's probably a error in the ABC source causing the conversion to fail."
I've tried copying the entire ABC text for tunes from thesession.org into the tune-o-tron and I get this error, and I've also tried just copying the part with the notes in it and I get the same error...
Five line Skink, which is a free download, converts continuously as you type the ABC's and if you have a mistake in the text, it tells you exactly where. That works for copy and paste text too.
A fair criticism of TableEdit, although it is pretty accurate on some. Cerainly I haven't had that many complaints - but there again, maybe I am easily satisfied

Re: ABC to Dots
Just use the Tune-O-Tron at http://www.concertina.net. It's free and no downloads are needed.

Re: ABC to Dots
Make sure the X:1 line is at the top, and there are no extra line breaks (i.e., not "double-spaced")

Re: ABC to Dots
Yep, the X field is essential with the Tune-O-Tron. Doesn't matter what number follows the X:
