hello i am interested in building a diatonic button accordion. Does anyone know any websites, shops etc that would sell reeds bellows basically all the components of a diatonic button accordion
also any instructional websites, books etc would be a help aswell
A good thing would be to get an old cheap box to use the parts from. If you want top quality, you'll probably need to get the stuff from italy. There's a yahoo group about building one row boxes, should have loads of info there.
Try http://info.melodeon.net/ - I use this site quite a lot, as I'm trying to learn the thing. It covers not just melodeons, but all diatonic accordions and there have been a number of threads on various building projects.

I am going to have a go myself, my Mengascini? irish bouebe is well built and seems a good start to copy.

I got parts to repair an old button accordion from cgmmusical,
(see tlittlewazzock's link above), and found them very helpful.

Hi
This is probably far too general but you never know, someone might be your first degree of freedom if you contact them:
