Hm. I have some empirical (but anecdotal) evidence that contradicts some of his assertions, mainly this one:
"Surprisingly, many players still believe that their instruments improve because they are loved and played well, which would be very difficult to explain on any rational scientific basis!"
I'm a big believer in the need for a fiddle to be played regularly, and I think I can tell the difference between one that has and one that hasn't...
