Bodhran cases...

Bodhran cases...

Hi,
Just wondering does anyone here use a hard Bodhran flight case?

If so, what make is it?

I have been looking on ebay and places like that at snare drum cases....Soft and solid cases...But its a hard case I am after.

Would a 16" bodhran fit in a 14" snare case? (allowing the extra room for the snares hardware) .
Any help would be great, even throw in the odd Bodhran joke if yis like!

All the best,
Seanie.

Re: Bodhran cases...

Sorry for the joke, Seanie. Here is a site that may be helpful; I know they make excellent cases for other instruments.

Would you be checking it, or carrying it on? I'd be tempted to make my own case.

Re: Bodhran cases...

I know the waste-bin was a joke - but maybe something along that line could be modified and made into a hard case.

Another idea might be to acquire a cheap or 2nd hand 18 inch bodhran and make that into a hard case for your 16 inch bodhran.

Just a couple of thoughts .. not really answering your question ..

Re: Bodhran cases...

I had a base case of bodhran once, it was awful. I was laid up in bed for days.

Re: Bodhran cases...

Seriously though, I got nothing, sorry. All I've ever seen are those gig bags everybody seems to have.

Re: Bodhran cases...

i've hard case for my bodhran
in fact it's the second one that I have
first was sold with the other drum. He has made few other case for my friends.
It's made of plywood covered with somesort of PCV or plastic.
It's really good one - I weight 21 stones (130kilos) and I'm able to sit in it.
That maker lives in Poland and makes guitar cases. I've found him on polish internet auction and asked him if he could do something like that for me. He said no problem.
If anybody would be interested I can help with contacting him.

Re: Bodhran cases...

I have two old wooden bodhran cases...but they are very heavy to travel with, although they do protect the drum ....
Its more of a plastic type case I am after..

But thanks for the help/jokes so far!
Seanie.

Re: Bodhran cases...

A drummer that I know has a plastic snare drum case made by"Sonar" the drum-kit manufacturer. It would certainly protect a bodhran. Mibae check their website?
