i'm looking for a new fiddle to replace my student thing.
Could anyone point me the direction of some good fiddle shops in the Oxford area? Or anywhere else that is accessible by train that is not too far from oxford.
I'd suggest Roger Claridge in Botley tel 725530 first off.
The Music Room near the station, primarily folky, of course.
Mark Harmer (regular poster here) at danceofdelight.co.uk
in Blockley, (reasonably accessible via Cotswold line, Mark?)
The obvious "classical" ones, Oxford Violins on Banbury Road (are they a bit "high end" does anyone know?)
Waters in Wallingford
Don't know how active Beecher Acoustics in Headington Quarry are.
Moreton in Marsh is our nearest station, and we do have quite a few fiddles that aren't on the site just now, so if you want to come and have a play (no obligation to buy!) you're more than welcome. We away currently but back on the 20th April onwards. If that's of interest, Jake, just email me via this site.

Re: Fiddle shops
Hobgoblin is great for midrange instruments. There's one in London, and other locations are on their website:
