I know this tune but I don't have a name for it. I'm sure it's already been posted here. The only title I have ever known it go by is MairtÃn O'Connor's - but none of the four tunes that come up under that title in the tunes section is the same as this one.
It was recorded by Belfast flute player Michael Clarkson, who gave it the rather unhelpful title of 'Reel in G' - presumably, it has also been recorded, or at least played by Mairtin O'Connor.
The way I have heard it played in sessions, there is a peculiar syncopated phrase in the B-part, with a high-A tied across bars 13 & 14. Michael Clarkson's version doesn't have this. If anyone can find this tune in the database, I'll post this variant in the comments.
BTW, Fiddle4, your barlines go slightly awry in the 3rd line. I would have posted a corrected version, but I'm not quite sure how it's meant to go, as it seems to be a slightly different version from the one I know.
Michael Clarkson's { Flute player } know him well..Nice wee
guy great flute player- But thats him the man- Posted =
'Reel in G' ,, -
Likely played by Mairtin O'Connor more like,,
Thanks for this effort Well done ,,I know who I can see now,,
Thanks again ,,

Having done what I thought was a thorough search through the tunes section, I went ahead and posted my version of the tune as 'Gan Ainm', in the hope that someone would have a name for it. The plan worked - a certain Mr. Dow directed me to an earlier posting (albeit quite a different setting). You'll find the Michael Clarkson version and the funny syncopated version in the comments there.
Yes Michael is puting some things in the tune..
But he starts it more or less my way,, But that pause 2nd part is
exactly Like Andy + Frankie done in theat session
jim,,
Can anyone find me the title of this reel..
