Looking for song sessions in Scotland, NI and R Ireland

Looking for song sessions in Scotland, NI and R Ireland

Hello!

While there's a great listing of sessions here, I haven't seen any that are noted as being song sessions. I'll be traveling Britain and Ireland April 26 - May 20, and I would love to attend as many song-specific sessions as possible in that time. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

Mary

Hey Braider, on your travels, if you happen to find yourself anywhere near the "Giant's Causeway", we have a friendly wee 'Ballads & Tunes Session', every Sat night.

You would be welcome to come along & join us & sing a few songs. Drop me an e, if your in the area & plan to come along .... wouldn't want to miss you! ;-)

Cheers

I would recommend Dick's session - they are very welcoming to travellers,

You can try the Royal Oak in edinburgh. Not sure when the sessions are as its been a few years since I've been up.

You could try asking on mudcat.org as more singers hang out there.

Apparently there is a new song session downstairs in the Royal Oak on Sunday afternoons 4ish onward, which was going on while we were playing upstairs Sunday last.

If you drop by Inverness, you can visit Hootnannies, Not merely a singing session but I remember two or three fine singers there. Couple of sets, then a song, or so. Very friendly guys.

Will hold you to that Dick. Hopefully will be getting out of Sheffield more when house situation settles down and daughter finally finishes her degree.
