Hi, I'm looking for the sheetmusic of a nice set og jigs: The Rain in the Bog, The Hag with the Money and The Cat that ate the Candle. Does anyone know them? Thanks!
Irina
I´ve at least found the "Hag" and posted an ABC version for the tune collection here. If Jeremy works at his usual pace you will soon find the sheet music there as well (if he isn´t at a Halloween-session tonight!)
"The Rain in the Bog" didn´t turn up in my collection and neither did the "Cat" though I know there is a CD by some fiddle player that bears the same title, probably named after the tune, but I can´t recall where I read it. (Maybe here in the recordings section...?)
I hope somebody else will come up with the missing ones as I have become curious as well, I am always for `nice´ tunes...
I know how to play Cat's Meow, but I don't know how to post ABC notation. I can notate in acutal notes--but how would I send it? I'd be happy to help if somebody can tell me what to do.
Thanks a lot. I'm working on the "Hag" already. Jörg, the fiddle player's CD you are talking about, could it be Tommy Peoples' one? I just remembered there's a tune about some cat, where it's amazing how he can perform the sound of a great "meooooow". I can't remember the name of the tune, maybe it is the Cat's Meow?
"Cat that Ate the Candle" is on the Altan compilation CD --the Best of 10 Years" or something like that. It's a beautiful reel...you can find a gif for it on the Sessioneer website----www.sessioneer.com...... I'd post it but I'm not up on my ABC's.
Thank you, aoife. I took a look at the sessioneer.com. Looks like a great site as well, particularly for all you whistle players out there...
And "The Cat That Ate the Candle" really is a beautiful reel. What puzzles me is that aniri was looking for a jig bearing that name... Well, it seems there are more tunes than there are titles for them.
Maybe it´s too early to call the posse back...
Aniri, if you´re interested I will post the ABC of "The Cat" with the funny taste but the sheet music is available on sessioneer.
At the moment I´m not sure it´s good etiquette to lift a tune off one site to put it in another, as The Session is about exchange, not theft. And right now I can´t give anything back to the sessioneer but pass on the information that he´s there, too.
If anybody has helpful hints on this topic I´d be glad to hear/ read them.
Hi again!
Thanks for The Sessioneer site info.
That's true, I was looking for the Cat that Ate the Candle as a jig, I heard the whole set played by the flute of Martin O'Sullivan in "The Glan Shore".
Jörg, I'm curious now for "The Cat", so if you post it I'll wait for Jeremy to submit the sheetmusic, as I can't read ABCs.
Just one thing more, I discovered the tune I was talking about (fiddler Tommy Peoples CD) is "The Fat Cat" and it is followed by "The Mouse in the Atic". It's worth to listen to this set.
Thanks again!
Irina
Hi, Irina!
I just posted the reel-version of "The Cat That Ate The Candle" as ABC. Same procedure as before... Much fun with it, and let us know, if it´s the one you were looking for.
And the "Fat Cat" sounds like a tune worth having in the repertoire. I´ll try to find the CD.
