We are playing for some Breton dancing in a few weeks' time. Wondering if anyone would be able to provide the lyrics for any of the following French/Breton dance tunes:
Hi Paul,
These are great resources - merci beaucoup! I will have to check the spelling for Bannielamboul. Thanks for the info about Gavotte D'Honneur. I was told it was a particular song for that dance.
Sorry I can't get the hyperlink to work. Just Google the name 'bannielou lambaol' and this dayton folk dance site should be the first thing up with the lyrics.
This is great, everyone! Thanks so much! We are hoping to sing at least some of these. We are also playing one or two An Dros, Avant Deux de Travers, a combined Hanter Dro/An Dro and Laride.
Trying to recreate the tradition authentically on almost exactly the other side of the globe - in Hamilton, New Zealand. Wish us luck. I have recordings of all of these plus a great album by Alan Stivell.
Thanks again,

Re: Lyrics for Breton dance tunes
I think the 'Banners of Lampaul' is spelled 'Bannielou Lambaol'. Don't know any words to it.

This is an old standard... I've danced it many places... Lovely links here, and me with a particular fondness for song dancers too...

Re: Lyrics for Breton dance tunes
Thanks, Ceol! Paul's hyperlink is also correct, I think, if I understand the French translation - anyway, the Breton seems to be the same.
