Tearing my hair out over this

Tearing my hair out over this

What is the album that I'm looking for?
I cannot put a name on it!! :-(

The cover has a fiddler standing at the back with his fiddle and a smile on his face. Another guy (I think has grey hair) is sat at the front of the cover photo by a gramophone (that's the big clue!)

If any of you guys know of the album by this duo, PLEASE tell me the name!

Also, the first tune is a hornpipe in D major and I think the second tune is a reel in G major but I cannot be sure because the last time I heard this album was on a cassette when I was about 6 years old so about 12 years ago!

You're a legend if you know what I'm on about

Re: Tearing my hair out over this

Is there also a small dog near the gramophone?

Re: Tearing my hair out over this

The album is 'The Missing Reel' by Séamus McGuire and John Lee - see http://www.gael-linn.ie/GLinn/AlbumInfo.aspx?SKU=CEFCD146.

I really should get out more.

Re: Tearing my hair out over this

Or in this case... "The Missing Title." On of my favorite recordings actually.

Re: Tearing my hair out over this

What stuns me, Dan, is how on EARTH you remember so much about an album you last saw and heard when you were just a wee schnip.

Re: Tearing my hair out over this

That is one of the most incredible albums for tunes and sheer brilliance of playing. Delighted to say that it was John who taught me. Mighty player.

Re: Tearing my hair out over this

Clearly, D.J.F. is still too busy tearing his hair out to reply!

Do other posters here get as fed up as I do by people who post requests and then don't have the decency/can't be arsed to respond with a word of thanks when their question is answered?

Re: Tearing my hair out over this

I think it's incredibly rude. D.J.F. should be shunned from the Irish music scene for it.

Oh, feck off, Dow!

Re: Tearing my hair out over this

Oh no. I've been shunned from the Irish music scene. That wasn't meant to happen. Not today, anyway.

Re: Tearing my hair out over this

DJF happens to be otherwise engaged over these few days. On his behalf, thank you very much for replying with the answer. DJF appreciates it, a lot.

Re: Tearing my hair out over this

Aww, diddums, poor li'l DJF is "otherwise engaged", is he? Revising for his A-levels, or something? Yeah, right!
;-)

Re: Tearing my hair out over this

I actually don't know where he is, but I couldn't just sit by and watch all of this anti-DJF sentiment build up, could I!

Re: Tearing my hair out over this

Would MacCruiskeen and Joe CSS please try and involve a modicum of maturity and pleasantness in their messages for the benefit of all and sundry. This is a music site, not an Agony Aunt's site after all....

Re: Tearing my hair out over this

My "thankyou" award goes to MacCruiskeen for giving me the link with the answer to my 12 year search

My "how dare you" award goes to MacCruiskeen for thinking that I don't have the decency/can't be arsed attitude!!

:-) I'm very happy now

Re: Tearing my hair out over this

Fiddlebd - what?

# Posted on April 7th 2008 by mehitabel23

Re: Tearing my hair out over this

And that's a "what? (indicates surprise)" rather than "what? (indicates confusion)"

# Posted on April 7th 2008 by mehitabel23

Re: Tearing my hair out over this

My 'thank you' award goes to DJF.

My award for 'complete feckin' hypocrite' also goes to DJF for sending me a personal message of thanks for enlightening him about the subject of his query and then slagging me off on this thread.

My award for 'must keep these buggers in chains' will go to whoever's supposed to be keeping these half-baked pillocks in check during their TM degree.
