ITM in Tokyo and Kyoto

ITM in Tokyo and Kyoto

I'm apologise in advance for rehashing this topic, but I was hoping to get some updated information. Are there are any particularly nice Irish music sessions in Tokyo and Kyoto? I'm going to be spending a week in each of those two cities, and it might be a welcome break from the travel itinery to drop by for tunes with local musicians.
Thanks!

Re: ITM in Tokyo and Kyoto

I think I can guide you to a couple of sessions in Tokyo during your stay. Just let me know when you will come here.

I heard there are more regular sessions in Kyoto, but I'm not very familiar with the scene there. Contact this person: http://www.thesession.org/members/display/26860

Hi Eldarion,

I don't remember the name of the Irish pub in Kyoto, but it is right near the entrance to the well-known tourist attraction, Nishiki Market.

It is right across the street from a large department store (maybe Daimaru or Hamaya, I don't remember).

It is very easy to spot -- a Guinness sign out in front -- and there are sessions on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Very good, enthusiastic, friendly players.

Enjoy!

Re: ITM in Tokyo and Kyoto

I noticed probably half-a-dozen "irish" pubs in Kyoto last year and the two I went in both said they had sessions. I think one was called "Field" and another "Hill of Tara." I really don't think you'd have trouble finding out what's going on if you were there for a week.

Yes, it is called "The Field"... right near the Nishiki Market. Thank you for jogging my memory, Ceratonia.
