Dustin at the eurovision?Whats gone wrong with the world?
Why cant we have a really good traditional tune with loads of ornamentation that sets us apart from other countrys.We would so win with a good set of reels,and its not like were short of excellent traditional players.This country has so much tallent its a shame we have a turkey representing us.

course ireland wants to win, they are using dustin to win a popularity / mad vote,its not about him being good or bad its about getting young people in particular to vote

If you look back on the last few years at the eurovision, it shows you that acts that are very unusual, win. You never know it might be the puppets year. We entered a trad group last year and it didnt work out. Maybe Europe just isnt interested in the best music on the planet.

Dana? All Kinds Of Everything? I liked it back in my personal springtime of - when was it? Late 60s, early 70s? How could any being with a soul NOT like it?
She'd have made a decent President of Ireland - perhaps. But she was debarred through not being called Mary. Bertie Ahern's called Mary, actually: he was re-christened secretly in the Vatican. Not many people know this. But what he really wants to keep a secret is that the Pope copped out at the last minute and he had to be done by Leonardo da Vinci.

Perhaps you should start with yourself and ask why you aren't making a difference to the world you live in?
Eurovision might be a joke but integrity has to start somewhere....remember there are six degrees of seperation...

There's probably an open debate as to whether the UK ought to be classed as the 51st state in which case... or perhaps we should lobby for Wogan to be appointed to the Supreme Court.
Can't imagine the decisions being anymore rational or explicable...certainly likely to be more entertaining.

Strayaway, I wouldn't be a great fan of Dana - either her music or leanings - but labelling her 'english' as a put down is a bit crude. I've always taken her to be a Derry woman and as Irish as anyone.

She was born in london and lived there for the first part of her life, labelling her english was just an absolute fact, I mean, could we not get anybody bad enough in Ireland to represent us?

strayaway - According to Wiki, Dana was born in London in 1951 but was only five when her family moved back to Derry, where they'd come from to find work at the end of WW2. The little mite was brought up and stayed a Catholic, and was in the bosom of the Irish education and cultural world from then on.

I think we're all taking this a bit serious. Both the eurovision and dana are pretty irrelevent as far as I'm concerned. BTW, Andy Irvine was born in london and what an excellent voice of the Irish people he is. "All you fascists bound to lose" as both he and Woody Guthrie sang.

Ireland has matured as a nation and become 'too cool' for the Eurovision. Instead we have decided to win Oscars for best song in a feature film. This is actually a reflection of Irish society which has become more sophisticated I think. (for better of for worse?)
The US should participate in the Eurovision. If Israel can why not America?
Why is Israel accepted into this competition?
By the way, Dana is an opus dia religous nazi! She has got one thing in common with Dustin Hoffman the Turkey Vuture and that is they both actually ran for president in the 90's the latter stood for the PoultryParty aka Fianna Fowl

Dana has great talent she is in my eyes a legend,we nead some more of that talent to win.but whats with all the the people who are voting? They are not voting for talent as far as I can see they are voting for the mad,acts the eurovision is no longer a competition for talent,its a joke.I think there should be jugges jugging whos with me???

Remarkably, I've just watched Dustin the Turkeys' performance at Eurovision for the first time. I thought it was fantastic. Totally taking the p*ss out of a joke competition. Horrible music admittedly but it was easily the bravest and most honest euro song I've ever had the misfortunate to witness.

She was actually first equal with two other countries whose names I can't recall. They never seem to get mentioned by the UK media.
The best ever UK entry was The Allisons "Are you sure?" which came second in 1961. A classic pop single of its time.
