they are quite fun to use live once you sequence all the notes in. haha.
you can change vibrato, pitch bend, stacatto etc, etc. in real time.
so its kind of like a set of pipes but with the added feature of a built in drum machine.
;)
i was working on a set of reels but the batteries died and i forgot to save it.
I love it! Thanks Dub.
Dunno if I'd have it at a session...that said, I used to have a mobile with The Boys of Bluehill as its ringtone - I set it off one night at the session for a laugh, but the lads just joined in!
Finally..the Farewell to Erin Rap...Now that is clever. Incidentally KML, I would love to have an ITM ringtone on my mobile phone. The nearest thing I've heard so far was Scotland the Brave. Does anybody on here know a link where I could download something like that...O2/Nokia/Ireland
My missus doesn't want to be a session-widow so enjoys coming along and sitting in the corner to sessions and gigs. To while away the hours, she plays a "game-girl" with a big spotlight on it - everyone is always curious what she is doing.
Ha, fine stuff, DubChieftain. Every once in a while someone posts a try at techno/trance/trad, but I haven't heard anything so decent. It's kinda... danceable. Fun and funky.
I could be mistaken, daiv, but I think the lad in your link is our own Pere, or his brother.
daiv: the program i used was called LSDJ.
its well known and still availible,
i know a few people who use them to make purely techno stuff.
its a bit of a chore to program tunes in, buts its fun once you get into it.
that guy on the DS was v-impressive.
i have a similiar program for doing realtime stuff, but i dont think i could do that.
ive been combining banjo with the gameboy lately...well it keeps me amused.
Gameboys at sessions?
Gameboys at sessions?
A few weeks ago I found a Gameboy in a skip outside my flat.
My mate is a techno wizard and sorted me out with some music software for it.
this my interpretation of Farewell To Ireland.

Ha! I can just picture that playing behind the credits after Zelda has conquered the final castle...
And man, that's the best bodhran playing I've ever heard!

I'd truly hate to be seasick to that.

Re: Gameboys at sessions?
This is wonderful, go DubChieftain!
I could see myself enjoying a session where everybody has a gameboy.... Think about the possible noise, say in the Willie Clancy Week....

Re: Gameboys at sessions?
the jig Bryan O Lynn would sound great on that contraption!

Re: Gameboys at sessions?
i like the idea of arranging video game music for a Ceilidh Band.
Red Robin:
good idea, thats one of the few jigs i can actually play on the banjo.
although, the gameboy seems to freak out when i attempt jigs on it.

Free Reed:
you could download the midi files here and put them on the phone.
you would need a usb cable or a bluetooth thingy though.
