Mick O'Connor and YouTube

Mick O'Connor and YouTube

A question to those who have seen the videos of Mick O'Connor playing banjo for quite a few tune sets and a couple of songs (with Bob N' along) on YouTube;

does anyone know where they've gone or where other copies can be found.

They were great for playing along to but seem to have disappeared.

I think that the poster, vidlad, captured that footage himself. I'm not sure where Bob n'Along can be found but Mick plays on an album released by Paddy Carty called "Traditional Music of Ireland" (mostly accompaniment though) and on this McGuinness band CD or something to that effect. He still plays around these days and can be usual found at the All-Ireland Fleadh Ceoil and I think he goes to a regular session somewhere in London but am up to correction on that.

When you find something you like on Youtube, post the URL into the box on this site and follow the instructions and you can have your own copy... http://www.zamzar.com/url/

Sometimes it doesn't work but if you play around with the url it can be made to. Compare it with other Youtube URLs and make it conform to their structure. Some I have not managed to download but its only about 10%.

zamzar always works for me, though it is better if you have an account that allows big files to be downloadad.
Gmail is pretty good

Re: Mick O'Connor and YouTube

Whatever about Youtube, there's a great Fleadh session with Mick O'Connor and friends over at http://comhaltas.ie/music/detail/comhaltaslive_230_1_session_with_mick_oconnor_and_oliver_divinney/. Glad I had the excuse to find this again as it's a classic street session and the laid back box playing of Oliver Divinney says it all.

Yeah great video, the boys loook like they are having a great time. And this video just shows that the more banjos in a session the better ha ha ha

Re: Mick O'Connor and YouTube

Not sure why they've been deleted, but it's a shame. I hadn't heard of the guy `til I saw him on youtube. Great inspiration, and great to play along to...

Re: Mick O'Connor and YouTube

SImple solution would be to download them off youtube and if they dissapear then post them back up again. I have a lot of stuff off the youtube trying to make a compilation DVD... one day
