I have been playing a Peter Abnett bouzouki for the last 6 months and it is the best zouk I have come across (have tried all sorts including Foley's and Sobells).
The Foley is very similar as I have heard reports that Joe Foley took apart an Abnett to copy it!
The one big difference is the back, flat in the case of the Foley but semi- rouind backed for the Abnett, this makes a big difference to the sound.
It really has a great ringing bouzouki sound and is great at sessions.
The construction and quality is 2nd to none.
Go for it

What exactly is it we're to "go for" Pjhill?
Stories abound about luthiers taking other makers instruments apart. Most of them are fanciful nonsense. Just enjoy your instrument and dont be annoying yourself about Joe Foley. Lots of people believe in him, i'm one of them. i had a Peter Abnett instrument once myself, and a fine little thing it was too.
I think Pjhill was just giving Peter some kudos on his instruments. I would agree, Pjhill, as I have one myself, and I LOVE it. Curious, who else here has, or has had, one of Peter's bouzoukis/citterns/mandolas/whatever else?
To Backer: There was a discussion last week where someone was asking about Peter Abnett's bouzoukis. I think Pjhill's comment was probably a reply to that. Although I have no idea how it became a separate thread.
