"This list ranks the top 100 most-recorded tunes on the indexed recordings. By carefully comparing the 11,734 individual tune recordings there, I identified a total of 4,434 distinct tunes, from which this list is drawn. The tunes below are ranked in descending order of number of recordings. When tunes have the same number of recordings, tunes having the oldest recordings appear first. Note that reuses of a particular cut in later anthologies are counted, which is fair, since the popularity of a recording is a good indicator both of the popularity of the tune and of the likelihood that musicians will learn the tune from that recording."
You can't expect me to make too much from spelling. I'm always screwing up, and if I've lost sleep or am under the weather, well, weather starts to look more and more like wahteer...
Ceilidh Tunes
Ceilidh Tunes
Hi, I would like to join in at sessions but I don't know the most popular tunes played. Would someone mind compiling a list for me. Thanks

Re: Ceilidh Tunes
Are you wanting ceilidh/ceili tunes or session tunes? What is popular at one is not necessarily popular at the other!
As per standard procedure here, though, I will point you at Dow's list of "essential" tunes...

Aha! I knew you'd be by shortly, c! I should have left you to it! I was just following proper mustard board protocal.

Re: Ceilidh Tunes
That's "protocol" if you're correcting spelling at home.
Tip: Try pasting your entries into Word with spell check on before posting. HA!

Re: Ceilidh Tunes
Maybe the synthetic estrogen in the water there affects nuclear power plants too?

Re: Ceilidh Tunes
Synthetic estrogen? I thought it was fluoride! Tastes like fluoride... [shrug]

Re: Ceilidh Tunes
Protocal? Would that be a banned performance enhancing supplement according to IOC guidelines and is there a test capable of detecting it?

Re: Ceilidh Tunes
Aww hell, protocal in the coolant system again. Them nuclear plants ain't nothin' but trouble. Cancers, contaminations, waste - who needs 'em.

Re: Ceilidh Tunes
Apologies Matt - gone off the subject of the thread...
