Missed your original post but I was searching for these a few weeks back for a flute case I made up. Used to be that the local hardware shops, down the country, had shelves and boxes of bits and bobs like this. But not a bit of it anymore - all shrinkwrapped and barcoded now - it's supposed to be 'progress'....
Eventually tracked them down in Woodworkers up in Harold's Cross, Dublin.
BTW, I am constantly amazed at the flow of DIY electronic tools etc. at places like Aldi and Lidl - they seem to fly out the door - but very few people seem to be bothered to fix or make anything themselves these days. Must be some sort of primitive response in the male pysche or maybe it's the women buying them as a hint. But we won't go down that road!
Slightly off-topic, but if you need a fiddle bow case you needn't pay a small fortune for a bespoke one. A billiard cue case will do the job just fine for a fraction of the cost.
Wounded Hussar, I agree with your observation about people not making / fixing things for themselves nowadays. I wonder if there's a correlation between us (we make our own music rather than consuming it passively) and making / mending stuff.
I love getting stuck in to mending a bit of kit - I'm always determined not to let it get the better of me. Probably the same as my reaction to trying to play something I've heard: if others can play it, I don't see why I can't either!
Some info on case catches
Some info on case catches
Just for info for anyone in the same situation as me with a broken case latch. (see my posting http://www.thesession.org/discussions/display/16728 )
I found three suppliers directly on the web, it's a case of knowing what these things are referred to as "drawbolt catches".
For anyone looking for replacement catches, here's the three suppliers I found :

Hope this helps someone.
Thanks for the help people.....
