I've been happy with a brass Generation for many years. A dog nearly ate it but it's still playable. It is fuller and more mellow than D and higher whistles of the same type.
I have Sustao, Sweetheart (wooden), Generation and a Tony Dixon in C. I'm also having a C body made for my Abell. So far, the Sweetheart in my favorite. But it really is a case of personal preference and budget.
I have a Water Weasel C...made by the late Glenn A Schultz and it's very, very nice...made from PVC...but dont let that put you off, they're brilliant whistles...
Doc Jones at www.irishflutestore.com has one at the moment for US$125.00....well worth the money IMHO...
Doc is a real gentleman and a pleasure to deal with..
There's also quite a few other C's there too..look in the pre loved whistles section..
Good luck ....
I have to say, after years faffing about with Generations and other cheapo makes, they just don't cut it with me any more.
The're not loud enough, the tone often isn't rich enough, and **most importantly,** they are generally **out of tune with themselves.**
I've noticed this whilst playing with other whistle players who do use a Generation. OK, you may be lucky and get a good one, but you're more likely to ge a crap one.

Any whistle is as professional as the man or woman playing it.
