How does one look for a tune on the net using ABCs. How is the search formed. Do you pu inverted commas around those ABCs you have? Also if there is a Bb for example in the few notes you do have, how would you differentiate it?
Try that for starters... Use a bar, just choose one and give it a try. Put it between parenthesis: " ~ "
If that one doesn't result in a reasonable find, try another. If you're searching for a hornpipe you may have to try it without or with the swing notated, meaning these things ~ >
"BAFA D2 FA" / "B>AF>A D2 F>A"
or even further, as some space their notations differently ~
"BA FA D2 FA" / "B>A F>A D2 F>A"
The spacing question can also affect other forms, back to jigs ~

Re: ABCs on net
Flats are an underscore before the letter e.g _B = Bb
Sharps are a circumflex ^F = F#
Naturals are an equals =E = E natural
John Chambers has a search enqine that looks through all known abc collections on the net

Yes, John's little feature is a valued one, but it does miss them too...

Re: ABCs on net
John Chambers again, if you know a 'name' for a tune, you can search, number and alphabet ~
example ~ ABC tunes starting with ~
15 ~ http://trillian.mit.edu/~jc/music/ndx/15.html
Oz ~ http://trillian.mit.edu/~jc/music/ndx/OZ.html

We have also discussed some google strategies (related to this site, but also useful for wider searching)
