Irish Flutes for sale

Desi Seery Delrin. I've only played it twice. Bought it in Ennis on a drunken whim. My Casey Burns small-hand was waiting for me when I got home (Toronto area) and I've never looked back. I have small hands. See this flute on Custy's web page. Asking $600 U.S. No case.
Phil Bleazey keyless D Blackwood with rings and tuning slide. Please see Phil's website for info. There's a hairline crack in the section with the tuning slide--the section with no holes in it--so it doesn't affect the playing and can be filled in. I love this flute, but again, after playing the Burns ergonomic small-hand it's just not as good a fit for me. Not played much. A year old. $600 U.S.
Doug Tipple 3-Piece D with wedge. Please see Doug's website. Hardly played. $50.
Shipping will vary. If you're in the Toronto area you could see them for yourself.

Re: Irish Flutes for sale

Does the Seery have the tuning slide? Custy's have the tunable with a "brilliantly-designed wooden case" for EU430 which right now is US$634 or AU$714. So you're actually selling it close to or over new price?

Re: Irish Flutes for sale

I bought a Desi Seery flute with a case direct from Desi Seery a while ago and it was pretty inexpensive. Even with the recent devalustion of the US $, it's cheaper direct from Desi Seery in Ireland. All of hisflutes have a tuning slide from what I can tell.

Re: Irish Flutes for sale

In response to the 2 comments above. Yes, $635 is what I paid for the flute in Custy's--without a case. It is the flute, with slide, described and pictured in Custy's website. Desi Seery's website says he is out of stock for delrins, but when I last saw them on his site they were $600.
Upon reading the "pretty inexpensive" price estimate by "whistleblower" I researched on Chiff and Fipple. Last Sept. 3 "jemtheflute" had one for $607. But I see he included the case. So Martin Lom is right. I will accept a fair offer which recognizes the lack of case. As for being new--it pretty much is. The finger spacing is too large for me and when I say I've played it twice, that's true. I was a tad tipsy, and it just sounded so darn good when a pro flute player sampled it for me in Custy's.

Re: Irish Flutes for sale

Even so, I can't imagine anyone would choose to buy a 2nd-hand flute over a new one for around the same price. 3/4 cost is usually standard. Good luck selling it though. If you were to go down to around 300 for the Seely Delrin I'd be very interested...

Re: Irish Flutes for sale

Actually, some flutes from some makers sell for more than the new price due to the waiting time...

Although I get the impression this is not a particularly good time to sell flutes due to the generally knackered state of the US economy and dollar.

And Rudall and Rose fltues sell for a lot more than what they cost new... :-)

Good luck with selling them.

Chris

Re: Irish Flutes for sale

Hi Crackpot....Thank you for your balanced comment. As if I would take a $300 loss on a popular quality flute that's as good as new. (Apparently Tom Doorley of Danu plays the Seery Delrin). I've ordered a hardshell case for the Seery. The Bleazey comes in the cloth case that Phil sends with it, and the Tipple is sold. When the case arrives I'll move these items on to E Bay.
