Old Songs Festival -- well, _this_ is nice to know

Old Songs Festival -- well, _this_ is nice to know

Dunno how many of you may have gone to it, but my family (or portions thereof) and I have been attending the Old Songs Festival outside of Albany, NY, for about 15 years straight now. And _this_ year, I'll have even more good reason to attend, looking at the preliminary list of performers they put up, which includes:
Andy Irvine
Liz Carroll and John Doyle
Malinky
April Verch
Le Vent du Nord
Chuck and Albert Arseneault (formerly of Barachois)

(You can see the complete list at http://www.oldsongs.org/festival)

So, yeah, I know where I'm gonna be the last weekend in June -- the same place I've been the last 15.

See you there...
John and I have been volunteering there for ages (me since the first year). We, unfortunately, skipped several years when we dropped out of dancing and jamming in order to build our house.
Andy always invites great talent; and she and Bill, along with many others, put on a great festival.
Cheers,

Re: Old Songs Festival -- well, _this_ is nice to know

I've been going to Old Songs for many years, and this is always one of my favorite weekends of the year. This year's line-up does look great!

By the way, don't be misled by the name. There's plenty of songs at this festival, but also tunes and tradtional dance as well. The performers are always high caliber, and there's lots of hands-on opportunities if you play/sing/dance yourself.

I'll be looking once again for the all-fiddle workshop that pops up each year, when fiddlers of many genres all get together for an hour or two to demonstrate their various styles.

Take a chance on this one!
