Ryanair & Fiddles: Birmingham & Shannon - no problems.

Ryanair & Fiddles: Birmingham & Shannon - no problems.

I meant to post this a few weeks ago.

I flew from Birmingham to Shannon with Ryanair, carrying a 60cm fiddle-case, and wasn't challenged at all. Then flying from Shannon to Dusseldorf, again, no problems. Then HLX from Cologne to Birmingham - no bother.

LOL good one chadmills. When i went to Majorca last May i got stung with the additional weight fee of £60 on the way there. On the way back i was damn sure they wouldn't get me again so kept things to a minimal but i saw one poor lady in Palma airport who was caught short. She was discarding loads of childrens toys, clothes and beach towels from her suitcase just to make the weight right in the middle of the airport while crying her eyes out. I couldn't help but think if i had my accordion with me and that happened then there would be only one thing for it, the wife would have to get on another flight.

I flew home on Virgin Blue yesterday and the checkin staff specifically said they exempt instruments for weight and treat them as carry on luggage. Hopefully thats policy not the opinion of one. I know who I am flying with again.
