I was saddened to learn today that Ed Wilcox, the creator and manufacturer of the Incredibow, died last week of a massive heart attack. According to a post Ed's wife, Carolyn, made to the Yahoo group for Incredibow users, the Incredibow business will continue.
The family has requested that if anyone wishes to remember Ed, they send small donations to a local animal clinic whose work he supported:
Watson Creek Veterinary Clinic
5020 White Dr
Batesville AR 72501
The clinic provides free or low-cost treatment for animals in a very poor region of Arkansas.
I never had the good luck to meet Ed in person, but as many Incredibow customers did I interacted with him through the Yahoo group and via email. He was a dedicated craftsman and a warm, generous man. He'll be sorely missed.
No - golly - I'm utterly shocked. We've spoken to him and we've been selling his bows for quite a few years. He was a great experimenter and enjoyed producing new ideas for people to try out. I'd love to have met him.
Ed Wilcox (Mr. Incredibow), RIP
